The part complexity that injection molding tools can produce requires equally complex CNC machining services. A single mold build can utilize any number of unique manufacturing processes, from standard drilling to cutting edge 5-axis milling.
Decatur maintains all requisite capabilities, using them not only for injection mold tool building but offering them to customers on a contract manufacturing basis. Our capabilities are your capabilities when you contract our machining services for your custom machining needs.
When working with Decatur for your contract CNC machining requirements, a diverse variety of machining services are at your disposal. We offer CNC milling, Electrical Discharge Machine (EDM) wire cutting and CNC EDM, turning and lathing, drilling, spotting, boring, grinding, vibration and other finishing, polishing, and blasting services, and more.
All of these custom machining capabilities are performed by a fleet of more than 130 pieces of advanced equipment, including:
Decatur Mold has been an industry-leading builder of plastic injection molds since our founding in 1966. From its roots producing relatively simple products, injection molding has grown into a large industry capable of producing incredibly complex and intricate parts.
As injection molding capabilities and the overall industry grew, so did Decatur. Over the course of 50 years, our 2,400 square foot shop grew into an 87,000 square foot multifunctional production facility. Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, our facility is staffed by over 100 highly skilled experts and equipped with an expansive array of state-of-the-art machining equipment.
Decatur Mold maintains a full time contract manufacturing staff, including supporting design engineers, to support you during contract CNC machining. We can efficiently machine a range of metals, from aluminum to hot rolled, cold rolled, and tool steel varieties. We can also accommodate a number of post-machining finishing processes, including polishing and blasting — for the few finishing processes we cannot perform, such as texturizing and anodizing, we have carefully vetted a roster of trusted quality vendors.
